As we continue to provide the latest on Hurricane Sally in Mississippi, stay up-to-date with photos of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and its residents preparing for the storm to make landfall.
A Mississippi Gulf Coast resident ventures out to Point Cadet in Biloxi Monday morning. Residents hoped to see one more sunrise before Tropical Storm/Hurricane Sally gets closer with feeder bands arriving today. Instead, ominous skies blocked the sunrise and reminded those what was in store for the area.
Waves begin to splash into sea wall near Urie Pier in Gulfport Monday morning. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is bracing for Tropical Storm — soon to be — Hurricane Sally. Throughout most of Monday, the situation along the Mississippi Gulf Coast will worsen. The area can expect seven to 11 feet of storm surge.
Normally, this location at the intersection of U. S. 90 and Cowan Road in Gulfport would be an ideal sunrise spot. On Wednesday morning, the clouds still looked threatening, there is some flooding due to storm surge and strong winds continue. Mississippi Gulf Coast residents are mindful that the area dodged major damage as Hurricane Sally veered toward Mobile and Pensacola.
