Nonprofit news puts the power where it belongs: with the people.
For five years now, it’s been our mission to tell stories about communities and issues that might otherwise go untold. Our hope is that when Mississippians have access to this information, they are empowered to hold their leaders accountable, find solutions and work together to make our state a better place to live.
This journalism informs. This journalism matters. And this journalism is worth supporting.
So far, this essential work has only been possible because of the support of readers like you—and we need your help to make the next five years possible.
We’re excited to share that we’re once again participating in NewsMatch, an industry-wide movement to sustain journalism in our state and country. Since 2016 NewsMatch has raised over $150 million to keep nonprofit journalism like ours going strong.
Through December 31 we are trying to raise $50,000 to sustain our newsroom.
If you support the work of nonprofit news in the state we love, please consider donating today.

Your donation makes a difference:
Mississippi Today is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) digital news source that relies on financial support from our readers. Our membership program unites readers from different backgrounds who together form the backbone of Mississippi Today.
Here are just a couple of ways your gift makes an impact in our newsroom:
- It allows us to pay our employees a fair wage and offer them benefits such as healthcare.
- It helps us pay for rental cars and mileage reimbursements so that our journalists can report on communities across the state.
- It equips our distribution team with the technology they need to get the news to our readers.
- It goes towards community resources, such as spanish translations of select Mississippi Today content.
- It makes our readers the stakeholders, not a mass media holding company, which is important to our mission of public-service journalism.
We can’t take all of the credit.
Thanks to support from our community of readers, here are some recent staff accolades. They wouldn’t be possible without our members, literally.
