Rather than following a traditional newspaper opinion section format, the section strives to focus on creative, constructive solutions that address Mississippi’s unique challenges and inspire progress. MT Ideas is not a platform for partisan endorsements or overt political debate. Instead, it will showcase diverse perspectives from Mississippians and others working to improve and highlight our communities.
Any piece we choose to publish must adhere to the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics and Mississippi Today’s Policy on Editorial Independence. Submissions we decide to publish will be fact-checked and edited for accuracy, style and clarity, and we’ll maintain a high standard to ensure the section becomes a trusted space for sophisticated, forward-thinking dialogue.
Our news partners may republish these pieces, and we will request photos and biographical information from authors to run with each piece.
We reserve the right to decline publishing any submitted or proposed piece, and in those instances, we’ll do our best to communicate directly with submittors about it.
