Throughout the month of October, we’ve hosted some of Mississippi’s most celebrated authors in conversation with Mississippi Today editors and journalists.
Mississippi Today hosts events throughout the state to create interactive forums on how to grow Mississippi in positive ways, and now the Expats Project is doing that very thing outside state lines. An estimated 37 percent of the population has left the state, but we know many Mississippi expatriots still hold their home state — and its future — close to their hearts. We are targeting several U.S. cities where there are large concentrations of Mississippi expats with the desire to come together and become more involved in their home state. Throughout 2019 and 2020, we’ll be hosting events that are intimate, informative and proactive. Plus, as you would expect from any Mississippi shindig worth its salt, we’ll have some delicious food, libations and of course great conversation.
Featuring nationally recognized journalists, such as Yamiche Alcindor of PBS NewsHour and Jonathan Martin of The New York Times, the summit will focus on role of journalism in democracy
