The population of millennials has surged across most of America – but not in Mississippi. And that could create serious consequences for our state.
Millennials — those born between 1981 and 2000 — are the largest generation of Americans. The demographic’s total U.S. population increased by approximately 2.6 million from 2010 and 2016, according to Census estimates. Mississippi’s millennial population has dropped to 801,799, a 3.9 percent decrease during those six years.
Join us on Thursday, Sept. 28 in Room 202 of Murrah Hall on the Millsaps Campus for discussion of reasons and remedies for this loss. Plan to arrive at 8:30 a.m. for coffee, conversation and continental breakfast, then stay for the program at 9 a.m.
The panel will be moderated by Mississippi Today co-editor Dennis Moore and feature ReThink Mississippi’s Jake McGraw alongside Mississippi Today social media coordinator Sereena Henderson.
