Mississippi Today, along with Millsaps College, hosted a panel discussion to address Brain Drain in Mississippi. The event was hosted on the Millsaps campus.
The population of millennials has surged across most of America – but not in Mississippi. And that could create serious consequences for our state.
Millennials — those born between 1981 and 2000 — are the largest generation of Americans. The demographic’s total U.S. population increased by approximately 2.6 million from 2010 and 2016, according to Census estimates. Mississippi’s millennial population has dropped to 801,799, a 3.9 percent decrease during those six years.
The panel, moderated by Mississippi Today co-editor Dennis Moore, featured ReThink Mississippi’s Jake McGraw, Mississippi Today social media coordinator Sereena Henderson and C Spire Director of Recruitment Mary Claire Parrish.
