Farish Street development wins gold

A townhome development in the Farish Street Historic District celebrated Wednesday in recognition of winning gold at the National Association of Home Builders’ International Show in Orlando. A morning ceremony at the development’s community center at 203 Monument Street included Gov. Phil Bryant presenting a proclamation noting the achievement. Chartre Companies/Mid-Housing Foundation’s Helm Place won in the 2016 “Best of America Living Gold Award” for the Best Affordable Single Family-Attached Housing category. The development also won the Home Builders Association of Mississippi 2016 best new construction multifamily development in the state. The development consists of 88 newly constructed, single-family homes that measure 1,520 square feet.
