Thursday, August 15 — Shelton, a native of Columbia, Miss., returned to his home state in 2017 to work as the first photojournalist at Mississippi Today. His position, supported in part by Report for America, takes him across Mississippi, exploring the people, communities and environments of the South’s most storied state. Shelton’s work is intimate, quiet and profound. This collection of photography offers a glimpse into the lives of everyday Mississippians, and explores a range of emotion from pride and resilience to suffering and sorrow.
Photographs were available for purchase with proceeds directly supporting photographer Eric Shelton and reporter Michelle Liu, the Report for America corps members in the Mississippi Today newsroom.
