A native of Waynesboro, Sam Britton has served as Mississippi’s Public Service Commissioner for the Southern District since he was elected in 2015.
Britton received a business degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and later a degree in accounting. After becoming a certified public accountant, he worked with the offices of the State Auditor and the State Tax Commission and later started his own accounting firm.
Britton was named as one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Mississippi Leaders in Finance in 2014.
He and his wife, Robin Robinson, are active members of First United Methodist Church in Laurel. They have one daughter.
