Mike Chaney has served as Mississippi’s Commissioner of Insurance and State Fire Marshal since 2008.

Prior to his tenure as insurance commissioner, Chaney served in the state House of Representatives from 1993 to 1999 and in the state Senate from 2000 to 2008.

Chaney, an Army veteran, has served as president of the Warren County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Committee. He is a past president of the Republican Elected Officials of Mississippi and serves on the state Republican Executive Committee.

Chaney and his wife, Mary Thurmond Chaney, live in Vicksburg and have three children and eight grandchildren. They are members of Christ Church.
