Marshall Ramsey

I hit the road today for a short trip down I-55 to the Jackson Optimist club’s weekly meeting. Even though I was a last-minute fill-in, I was received warmly by the club. (And I got a hamburger steak and some vegetables. Never underestimate the power of hamburger steak and vegetables.) My mission. To brag on the great work being done by my coworkers at Mississippi Today — and to let them know they needed to be checking us out. I also joked that I was fitting in with their creed until I got to this part:

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

Well, there goes my career as an editorial cartoonist. But I did figure this part of the creed summed up my mission for the day:

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

Yup. I’m enthusiastic about my friends at Mississippi Today and the great work they are doing. I look forward to my next trip out to spread the word.

And hopefully another delicious piece of hamburger steak.
