Mississippi Today hosts events throughout the state to create interactive forums on how to grow Mississippi in positive ways, and now the Expats Project is doing that very thing outside state lines.

An estimated 37 percent of the population has left the state, but we know many Mississippi expatriots still hold their home state — and its future — close to their hearts. We are targeting several U.S. cities where there are large concentrations of Mississippi expats with the desire to come together and become more involved in their home state.

Throughout 2019 and 2020, we’ll be hosting events that are intimate, informative and proactive. Plus, as you would expect from any Mississippi shindig worth its salt, we’ll have some delicious food, libations and of course great conversation.

Central to our mission at Mississippi Today is inspiring civic engagement. We think critically about how we can foster healthy dialogue between people who think differently about government and politics. We believe that conversation — raw, earnest talking and listening to better understand each other — is vital to the future of Mississippi. We encourage you to engage with us and each other on our social media accounts, email our reporters directly or leave a comment for our editor by clicking the button below.
