Elvis Presley’s birthplace and museum were rocking Sunday as dozens of fans attended the annual birthday celebration for The King in Tupelo on Sunday, The Daily Journal reports. The iconic singer was born in Tupelo on Jan. 8, 1935. He died in Memphis at age 42.
“This date is always important to Tupelo,” said Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum executive director Dick Guyton. “It’s important to us here as well. We have people come in from all over the world to help us celebrate his birthday. Today is no different.”
Celebrants included groups from Great Britain and visitors from around the U.S. They sang Happy Birthday and ate cake. Surely, someone was wearing blue suede shoes.
