Rick Cleveland

Rick Cleveland’s debut Friday as a contributing columnist for Mississippi Today will be the equivalent of a column doubleheader.

That’s right. Cleveland will write both from the Mississippi State and Ole Miss games in the first round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Mississippi State plays Southeast Missouri State at 1:30 p.m. in Starkville. Ole Miss plays Utah at 7 p.m. in Oxford.

Weather and traffic permitting, Cleveland plans to do both.

A long day?

“Hey, it’s baseball,” Cleveland said. “And this, collectively, has been the best college baseball season in Mississippi history. I wish there was some way to do Southern Miss from Tallahassee, as well.”
